Driving Regulatory Compliance: Our Stewardship Journey

Ethox Chemicals was recently recognized by Renewable Water Resources (ReWa) with a Compliance Excellence Award. The award recognizes Ethox for achieving 100 percent compliance with ReWa’s Sewer Use Regulations and all permit requirements in 2024, safeguarding Upstate waterways.

For Ethox, such recognition demonstrates our commitment to ethical conduct, integrity, transparency, and the safeguarding of our employees and community. It further attests that regulation and compliance stewardship is a core component of our business strategy.

Stewardship

As a chemical manufacturing company, Ethox Chemicals is responsible for adhering to the external laws, rules, and standards — regulations — set by governments or governing bodies like EPA (TSCA, RCRA, Clean Air Act) and OSHA (Hazard Communication). Beyond these mandates, we are committed to full compliance. This involves the active process of adhering to external regulations and internal policies through robust system building, staff training, consistent monitoring, and the verification of our adherence to these standards.

A Path to Seamless Compliance

Compliance doesn’t have to be a regulatory burden — it can be a strategic opportunity. By fostering a culture of accountability and synergy, Syntha Group aims to turn compliance into a defining strength. To support this effort, we recently held a Regulatory Summit.

This summit brought together regulatory and compliance personnel from all Syntha Group companies—Ethox Chemicals, Piedmont Chemical Industries, Dooley Chemicals, Custom Synthesis, and RWM Technology—to leverage our collective expertise and build a unified network.

During the summit, attendees from each company shared their unique proficiencies and perspectives on a variety of regulatory and compliance topics, including data management, incident management, trends, and future initiatives.

Providing forums like this for regulatory and compliance employees to learn from each other is a crucial piece to our stewardship journey. It nurtures engagement, efficiency, and innovation by sharing diverse skills, fostering teamwork, building leadership, and creating a culture of continuous growth. These behaviors make the whole organization more resilient and connected by breaking down silos, improving communication, and making knowledge an accessible asset for everyone.

Director of Compliance at Ethox Chemicals, Pat Holland, understands the value of sharing ideas cross-company, “We are very fortunate to have such a diverse group of subject matter experts all working for the Syntha Group.  It was great to learn about the various resources and skill sets that can benefit us all through information sharing.”

Committed to the Journey

Achieving true compliance success requires a cultural shift—driven by leadership—with ongoing employee training, clear communication of regulatory expectations, and active engagement. We have made the commitment and look forward to seeing where the journey takes us.
