*ETHOXCARE® RheoThickTM –5302 is generally good for most applications and tends to deliver higher viscosity and BYV but requires mild heating.
 ETHOXCARE® RheoThickTM –5484 tends to deliver moderate viscosity and BYV but allows for cold processing.

Surfactant-Based Suspension System and Viscosifier

RheoThick™ technology is based on the Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance (HLB) of a formulation and of the ingredients in the formulation. The suspension properties of RheoThick™ technology achieves its suspension properties by interacting with other surfactants present in a formulation. This interaction leads to the formation of either multilamellar structures or spherulitic structures within the product. These structures are similar to liposomes which provide improved stability and yield value even at high temperatures. RheoThick™ technology viscosity and rheology modifier provides viscosity and the desirable shear-thinning rheology properties in hair and skin care products, without sacrificing foam properties of the surfactant in cleansing products. It also adds lubricity and emolliency to the finished product allowing the formulator to reduce additional ingredients to achieve preferred aesthetics in the finished product. RheoThick™ technology viscosity and rheology modifier delivers a non-Newtonian liquid with shear-thinning properties, allowing finished products to be easily dispensed and smooth on application.

Increases Formulation Versatility

RheoThick™ technology provides improved stability and enhanced aesthetics. Fragrance, color, and preservative can be added at any time since little or no heating is necessary, and no special mixing is needed. Use levels vary with application but are generally in the range of about 10-30%. RheoThick™ technology increases formulation versatility and improves product performance.
